In 1964 Count Rodolphe van de Straten Ponthoz began the VDS team. This young, family-run team would slowly garner success in all 4 corners of the world. With Mini Cooper at the beginning, then with Alfa Romeo, McLaren, Chevron, Lola and Penske.
Many talented drivers drove for VDS Team enabling it to win 2 F5000 British titles and one F5000 Tasman title on its way to the
pinnacle of its success, the CanAm title with a car of its own design, the VDS001.
These include Teddy Pilette, ‘Taf’ Gosselin, Peter Gethin, Warwick Brown, Geoff Brabham, Geoff Lees, Al Holbert and John Andretti + many others.
The history of this surprisingly long established Belgian team is told in its entirety in this exceptional work. It contains stories from drivers, mechanics and engineers of the time and none of the victories or the struggles has been left out.
